On December 17th, 2016 we had the pleasure of photographing Danica and Kevin’s wedding at the beautiful Poco Diablo Resort in Sedona, AZ. They have been together for many years and this day was a long-time coming. They chose to have the ceremony in Sedona where they have visited many times hiking amazing trails, one of which was the West Fork Trail where we photographed their engagement shoot.

The wedding was a small gathering of close friends and family filled with a lot of love. The ceremony was so beautiful. One of the most emotional moments was when Danica’s father who was wheelchair bound decided to walk her down the aisle. While it proved to be difficult, it was incredibly moving to see the determination in his eyes and the sheer gratitude and love in her and Kevin’s. The vows were also very emotional and it was endearing to hear how much the two of them love and care for one another.

When the ceremony was over, we whisked away to go to a few separate locations for the Bride and Groom photos. Afterwards, we headed back to the resort to join everyone at the reception where it was time for them to cut loose:) When the reception was over we went to Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village, the last location they had requested. It was covered in Christmas lights and Danica and Kevin had a lot of fun especially since we practically had the place to ourselves. We found a huge ornament that they were able to stand in and we even came across a large santa chair that was a perfect goofy setting:) All in all their day was very special and we were so happy to be a part of it.

We finally shot our first engagement session due to the persistence of Danica and Kevin. When they asked us to shoot their wedding I tried to pass them off to a friend because we didn’t shoot weddings. However, they wouldn’t take no for an answer and to be honest it was hard saying no to them.

I realized I have passed quite a few clients off in the past who requested us to shoot their weddings because it was not a direction I wanted to take with my photography. Being the awesome friends that they are I couldn’t say no to them and it made me realize that maybe weddings have been a missed opportunity for us. So I’d like to thank them for not taking no for an answer and pushing me outside my comfort zone. They definitely rocked their engagement session and can’t wait to shoot their wedding in December.
